Learn to alter paper patterns to your measurements.

Bring to class a paper pattern in your size and we will cover pattern alteration techniques like slashing and spreading. Gain an understanding of grading lines and how to use them to your advantage and make simple style changes.

Commercial Patterns Seminar is strongly encouraged as a pre-requisite for this class.

This is an important and recommended class to take before venturing into the world of commercial sewing patterns. Learn pattern terminology and what the information on and in the pattern envelope means- such as measurements and sizing, fabric suggestions as well as learning how to take accurate measurements.

Comprehensive techniques for self-sufficiency

Do you know when to change your needle or oil your bobbin hook? Learn basic maintenance and trouble-shooting, an overview of textiles, sewing machines, and how to choose the right material, select proper needles, thread, feet and accessories for your projects.

Learn tips and tricks, and techniques for success with 2-way and 4-way knits including properly cutting knits, reinforcing with elastic or interfacing, and sewing knits on a home machine using straight stitches, zig zags and specialty overlock and stretch stitches, as well as using a serger.
