"Sewing Machine Basics"

In this class we will focus on the terminology and mechanics of the sewing machine. Learn to thread the machine and bobbin, back-stitch, straight stitch, zig-zag stitch, turn corners, sew curved lines, work with seam allowance and basic problem solving such as tension and threading issues. A top-down orientation and hands-on introduction to the sewing machine, consisting of several sewn exercises, plus a couple of basic projects to get you started with the wonderful world of machine sewing! This class concludes with a primer on finishing with hand sewing.

These skills are prerequisite for all PDX Seamsters classes.

Group Sessions by appointment for 4 to 16 people.

All materials for this class are included in the tuition, you will leave with a series of sewn samples and reference handouts.
