Want your pants to fit? By learning a few simple alterations you can open up the world of garment reuse and fashion independence!

Combine technical skills and rule breaking to foster creativity -- learn to hem pants, adjust side seams for fit, add darts or elastic, adjust the armcye, insert a gusset and techniques for refashioning garments. This course is as varied as the garments brought to class, encouraging Seamsters to come back with new alterations time and again!

This is an ongoing project class offered regularly to aid Seamsters as they learn by working on their own projects. Sign up for one or more sessions and bring us your questions in progress!

Bring in some basic alterations and thrift store finds and leave with fitted clothes plus skills and ideas to inspire! A selection of altered and refashioned garments will be on hand for you to consider.

 Sewing Machine Basics
Bring your own machine or use one of ours.
3 hour course - $37 (incl. $5 materials fee)
Class size: 4 to 16 seamsters

In this class we will focus on the terminology and mechanics of the sewing machine. All materials for this class are included in the tuition, you will leave with a series of sewn samples and reference handouts.
 Sewing Essentials
Zippers, buttonholes, and casings
3 hour class - $47 (incl. $10 materials fee)
Class size: 4 to 16 seamsters

Learn to sew fold-over casings, buttonholes and a centered zipper as well as how to work with fusible interfacing. All materials as well as handouts provided. Prerequisite: Machine Basics
 Hand Sewing Fundamentals
Learn how the professionals do it.
one 2-1/2 hour class - $37 (incl. $5 materials fee)
Class size: 4 to 16 seamsters

Learn how the professionals sew on buttons, hooks and bars and snaps as well as an assortment of basic hand stitches that will repair your clothes and give you a quality finish on your sewing projects.
